Hopi Department of Transportation (HDOT) was established by the Hopi Tribal Council’s enactment of Resolution H-055-2013 on July 2, 2013 which shall oversee all transportation road maintenance and construction projects throughout all Hopi lands; conduct programs and services to address the Hopi transportation priorities and needs as determined by the Council or by the Department as delegated or required by the Council.

Hopi Department of Transportation – Road Maintenance was established by the Hopi Tribal Council’s enactment of Resolution H-069-2013 on September 4, 2013.

PROGRAM SUMMARY
The Hopi Department of Transportation oversees all transportation road maintenance and construction projects throughout all Hopi lands; conduct programs and services to address the Hopi Tribal priorities and needs as determined by the Hopi Tribal Council. Programs to be conducted shall include any and all programs authorized by law, for which funds have been appropriated to the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) or made available from other agencies, i.e. Federal Highway Administration (FHWA – highway trust funds), through BIA or through direct agreement with FHWA.

MISSION STATEMENT
HDOT is to provide safe, efficient, and adequate transportation and public road access to and within Hopi Lands, to village/community members, visitors, recreational users, and others, while contributing to economic development, self-determination, and employment on Hopi Lands.

POLICY STATEMENT
The policy of the Hopi Tribe Road Maintenance and Construction Program is to provide adequate network of roads and physical infrastructure to facilitate and support the social and economic development of the Hopi Tribe and villages.
