Services offered by the Hopi Public Health Compliance Program

The Office of Public Health Compliance (OPHC) serves all who reside in Hopi communities.

What areas of public health does OPHC address?

The Office of Public Health Compliance ensures compliance with Hopi Food Service Ordinance No. 12 and assists with revisions and updates to other tribal ordinances. OPHC collaborates with Indian Health Services (IHS) Office of Environmental Health & Engineering (OEHE) to complete health and safety surveys; issue food service sanitation permits and conduct Food Service Manager ServSafe certification training for individuals employed in food establishments. OPHC also oversees a coalition that maintains surveillance of vector-bone and zoonotic diseases (VBZD) that may impact the Hopi community and will assist to coordinate a response in the event of an occurrence or outbreak.

Onsite food handler classes offered bi-monthly throughout the year
Issuance of a Hopi food handler card upon passing a training
Provide Vector-borne & Zoonotic Disease prevention education presentations
Collaborate with Indian Health Service OEH to hold Rabies Vaccination Clinics
Place tick collars on dogs for prevention of Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever (RMSF)
