Hopi Tribe Adult Vocational Training Program

Our Goal

To provide eligible clientele with quality vocational training opportunities and employment related services leading to gainful employment while enhancing self-sufficiency

Vocational Training Component

Services under this component are available to eligible applicants seeking to obtain marketable vocational and technical skills relative to the following training activities leading to self-sufficiency

Institutional Training

This provides applicants the opportunity to pursue full time vocational training at an accredited private or public institution where programs have been approved and established by the Hopi Tribe AVTP.

Eligibility

  • Enrolled member of the Hopi Tribe
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED certificate and be between the age of 18-35 yrs. old
  • Must be unskilled, unemployed or underemployed

Direct Employment Services Component

Employment related services are provide to clients who have successfully completed formal training and have acquired a marketable skill. Priority shall first be extended to Hopi Tribe AVTP sponsored clients and second to referrals and walk-ins.

Financial Services 

Clients who secure full time permanent employment, only after official verification of employment has been obtained from employer and if deemed feasible, may be provided with the following services:

  • One way travel funds to work site.
  • Subsistence for one month; or until full check or other one-time payment is received.

Career Management Services

At the end of each program, individuals are provided skills directly related to the individuals career choice in the following areas:

  • Self-motivational
  • Life coping
  • Money management
  • Job seeking/keeping
  • Resume writing
  • Completing job applications
  • Following through on referrals
