Highway Checkpoints on Hopi Roads this 4th of July Holiday

Hopi Resource Enforcement to conduct High Visibility Enforcement and Safety checkpoints

Kykotsmovi, AZ. The Hopi Tribe’s Resource Enforcement Services (HRES) will be conducting ‘Driving Under the Influence’ (DUI) and seat belt enforcement check points this Independence Day weekend. The high visibility enforcement begins, Friday July 1st through Monday July 4th.

The objective of the enforcement is to reduce the number of injuries and fatalities by vehicle collisions through increased high visibility enforcement.  HRES will focus on occupant restraint, impaired driving, speeding and transportation of alcohol. Increased patrol efforts will be focused on State Route 87, Arizona Highway 264 and all other roadways throughout the reservation. Keeping Hopi roads safe is in support of the Hopi Tribe’s Highway Safety plan and the Arizona State Governor’s Highway safety program during this upcoming holiday.

HRES would like to remind everyone to drive safely and obey all traffic laws.” We remind motorists and passengers it only takes a few seconds to fasten your seat belt. Do not drink and drive and be responsible drivers.”

Please report suspected DUI, reckless driving or unsafe driving behavior to local law enforcement or call 911.
