Hopi Tribal General Election 11-20-13

Wednesday, November 20, 2013,  the Hopi Tribe held the General Elections for Chairman and Vice Chairman.
The candidates running for Chairman were Mr. Todd D. Honyaoma Sr. and Mr. Herman G. Honanie. Candidates running for Vice Chairman were Mr. Ronald A. Honyumptewa and Mr. Alfred Lomahquahu Jr.
Poll Officer-Marshalls were escorted by Hopi Resource Enforcement Officers as early as 4:00 a.m.. to the (11) poll sites.  (33) Poll officers arrived at 5:30 a.m. to assure their Polling sites were reported correctly to open the general election at 7:00 a.m. and close by 7:00 p.m.
Canvassing of the votes was completed at the Hopi Veterans Memorial Center in Kykotsmovi,  Arizona.  (11) poll sites reported back to the canvass site as early as 7:30 p.m. to begin posting of the “unofficial results”.
The results are indicated as “Unofficial Results” for the General Election.  The Election Office will “Certify” the election results within 7 days from the General Election.
The Oath of Office  of the Chairman and Vice Chairman shall take place on the first regular Tribal Council meeting following the election. For more information,  please contact the Office of the Tribal Secretary at 1-928-734-3132.
